Please mark your calendars for February 7th at 1:00 in the Friends Room at the back of Third Place Commons. Please invite others you feel may be interested.

We focused on our "conversations",

  • Do they need to be more than just that????
  • Idea exchange can create change and focus.
  • What are the indicators to tell us whether we are going in the "right" direction?

The Community is open, free, welcoming, accessible, where we feel at home, are glad to live and or be, welcomes all ages, is a safe environment, etc.

Third Place Commons is our community center; surrounding cities do not have such a center. We must be VIGILANT in expressing to City government and possible new owners how important it is to our citizens and to the vitality of the business community. Meetings of all types are held [at Third Plac Commons] and include the surrounding communities. LFP has numerous volunteers (for which we are so grateful) that meet here, etc.

An example of what our "gathering place" contributes is the Rotary "Gifting Tree" . This year Hopelink said the communities contributed about $30,000 in gifts; Rotary volunteers acted as greeters, reference angels to other businesses and in general just being good neighbors.

Another example of community:
One afternoon Carol Dahl and Sally Renn were present as a elderly lady arrived saying " I don't feel well". Upon further conversation Carol and Sally found she had just driven in (by herself with oxygen tank attached) from New Mexico. She knew her son's house was near and needed assistance , as she did not have a cell phone. Thanks to conversation and our cell phones we contacted her son , who was so grateful and is an active participant in our community... After safely getting "mom" home ; he came by the second time to say "Thank you, this is what COMMUNITY IS ABOUT'.

Roger Bouck announced that the free RotaCare Clinic will be opened in Lake City at the end of Jan or 1st part of Feb. He is still in need of nurses and volunteers.

Anne's award for a new name is still open to additional suggestions. Roger Olstad won our vote at the meeting for a " SALUBRIOUS" LFP Community... Thank you Roger; and again we invite you to the Feb. 7th meeting at 1:00 pm in the Commons meeting room.
