Community Conversation: Notes 02/07/06
Return to Community Conversation

Present: Anne Stadler, Roger Bouck, Roger Olstad, Bill Leon, Carol Dahl, Jeff Altman, Marj Ando, Catherine Stanford

Initial discussion concerned placing a focus on our efforts. Bill Leon provided the first step in defining our "Healthy LFP" mission. A group of us (and you are invited!) is planning to go to Bellingham for two x one day workshops. The workshops are on Sustainable Community Indicators on 2/23 and on Community Sustainability Assessment on 3/2. (See separate 2/8 email for workshop details.)

After the workshops, we'll meet again on 3/21 (@ 3:30 pm, likely at a large table near the stage in 3d Place Commons) to organize a later conversation with the entire LFP community toward establishing a Healthy/Salubrious LFP Community. Bill Leon will be sharing with us how the "Logic Model" method would work for our purposes. The latter conversation will be held in Third Place Commons for the entire community to get their input on goals for a Healthy LFP. The tentative date for this event is Saturday, April 29 from 10 am to 1 pm.

Deadlines for us to keep in mind: 3/1 for the 3PC/3PB April calendar
3/1 to reserve space in the April LFP Town Crier; copy due by 3/10; either to Sarah P. or Deb Milan

The only other issue of significance discussed was brought up by Anne Stadler. She said that Bastyr is interested in setting up an off-campus Wellness Center that would incorporate both traditional & alternative medicine. We wondered whether our group and/or Rotary can broker a connection between that Wellness Center & LFP and possibly, the new Gold's Gym.

That's all folks! Sorry for the delay; it's been a very busy week.

I will send a separate email with practical info about our group.
