About the Meeting Room

- Where is the Friends of Third Place Commons meeting room?
- It is adjacent Kitto‘s restaurant in the Commons.
- Who can use the meeting room?
- Use of the room is a benefit of membership in Friends of Third Place Commons. Basic membership at $35/year allows current members to schedule the room twice during that year. Increasing contribution levels entitle members to use the room more often. For membership information, click to download details.
- What is the room be used for?
- The room is often used for meetings, classes, and small social gatherings. It cannot be used for any kind of sales, marketing, promotion, or a class charging a fee for instruction or materials (unless specifically sponsored by Friends of Third Place Commons or Third Place Books).
- How many people can the room accommodate?
- The room comfortably seats up to 30 people. Under some circumstances, chairs can be set up for a maximum of 50.
- How long can the room be reserved?
- The room is available for no more than two hours at a time.
- How can the room be reserved?
- Reservations can be made by calling 206-366-3302, or by sending an email message to programs @ thirdplacecommons.org. Please make your request with as much advance notice as possible. To determine room availability, click to see the online calendar, now shared with the bookstore‘s. Some events are noisy, please take a look at what is scheduled in the Commons during the time your event takes place. There is also a printed calendar for the current month posted outside the meeting room. We will do our best to let people know of changes in advance, but please be aware that the Friends Meeting Room schedule can change without notice.
- Can the room be used if no one has reserved it?
- If the calendar does not indicate that the room is reserved, it can be shared by individuals and groups. Please be respectful of others by keeping sound down in the room, and stay aware of upcoming reservations on the calendar.
- Can food be brought into the room?
- It is fine to bring in food purchased from the restaurants in the Commons and from Great Harvest Bread on the lower level. With a few exceptions, King County Health Department regulations prohibit bringing in food prepared elsewhere (home kitchen, grocery store, or restaurants off the premises). For this reason, we cannot allow potlucks. You can order ahead from all the restaurants in the Commons. Please contact us at 206-366-3302, or by sending an email message to programs @ thirdplacecommons.org and we will give you contact information.
Please note that you are expected to bus your tables in the meeting room. Thank you for removing all trash and making sure the room is in good condition when you leave!
