Youth Advisory Council

Launching Summer 2026 – Applications Now Open!

CALLING MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOLERS!

Join us in launching our first-ever Youth Advisory Council at Third Place Commons! This is a great opportunity to build leadership and advocacy skills, share your ideas, and help shape programs and events in your community.

Council members will collaborate on meaningful and manageable projects, bringing fresh perspectives to activities for your peers and neighbors. You’ll have the chance to provide input on The Commons programming, including our performances, events and activities, and help grow engagement and participation.

We are seeking students in grades 6–12 to form a Youth Advisory Council of at least five members. Participants should be able to commit to monthly one-hour meetings over the next year.

This is an opportunity to step into a role where your voice matters, serving as a leader, collaborator, and change-maker in your community.

We welcome nominations and encourage you to share this opportunity with others who may be interested. Thank you!

ABOUT THIRD PLACE COMMONS

Third Place Commons (aka “The Commons”) is a community-driven non-profit organization that has, for more than 25 years, provided a vibrant and welcoming space for all. We are dedicated to fostering real community in real space by:

  • Hosting hundreds of free public events in The Commons each year.
  • Sponsoring the local Lake Forest Park Farmers Market (May-October), along with holiday markets and crafts fairs.
  • Coordinating a local food assistance program called Market Bucks to support neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Partnering with civic, arts, and social service organizations to strengthen community impact.

Located in the upper level of the Town Center at Lake Forest Park, The Commons is a large, flexible community space that encourages both spontaneous and organized activities. Features include seating for restaurants, free Wi-Fi, a welcoming environment for kids, families and seniors, a semi-private meeting room, and a performance stage.
